Admission & Application Survey |
| Full-time law program |
It was a relatively easy admissions process. I used the CD-ROM
available from LSDAS to print out a Fordham application and mailed it
in. It required what most law schools do: LSAT score, grades and an
essay. I wrote about how my interest in music led me to the dream of
becoming an entertainment lawyer.
Fordham is very selective: it's a top-tier school, with many if not
most students hailing from Ivy League schools. I didn't go to one,
though, and I still got in with their "average" statistics - a 3.7 GPA,
164 LSAT and lots of leadership in extracurriculars. (164 is the
average LSAT, and the average GPA is about 3.3-3.6.)
Fordham, with its Jesuit background, is a very service-oriented
school...many students have held leadership positions in community
service organizations in the past (and many of them still do).
Volunteer work in college in programs like Habitat for Humanity or
children's aid programs could add a boost to a lower LSAT score or GPA.
Extra points probably go to those who did similar work internationally.
The best thing about the Fordham admissions process? It was the only
school out of 7 I got into that actually called me on the phone to tell
me I got in. That extra attention to detail is always a plus.
