Admission & Application Survey |
| Full-time Law School |
Fordham law school had a fairly standard admissions process including an
essay portion. Applicants are judged on their undergraduate GPA, LSATs
and resume. The law school has a very large applicant pool and
admission is competative. Aside from needing to have a high enough
GPA and LSAT to be in the running, a creative essay and a unique
academic and work background can give applicants an edge over other
similarly qualified students. If an applicant's GPA and/or LSAT are
lower than what is usually needed to get into the law school day
program, applicants should strongly consider the evening school. The
evening program is slightly easier to get into. I attended the day
program, and in retrospect believe that the evening division may give
students a better experience than the day program. The evening program
is four years and many of the students are professionals for whom law
will be a second career. Many of the professors in the evening
divisions are adjuncts and are often practictioners of the law. They
are judges, district attorneys and members of prestigious law firms.
Being part of the evening program entitles you to the same degree as the
day students, gives you a lighter class-load and more time to study and
also is a great opportunity to network with professionals. Students of
the evening program qualify to transfer to the day program at the end of
the first year.
