Quality of Life Survey |
| Full-time law program |
Quality of life is fine. The campus is quite nice, particularly the
buildings and College Walk. The law school is constantly improving as
they keep renovating and adding the latest technologies. Recently, they
have been adding small microphones to every 2 seats in larger
classrooms so that you don't have to worry about speaking loudly in
order for the room to hear you. The microphones light up when they're
on. Call me a geek, but it's pretty cool.
There's plenty of internet access with brand new computers. There are 2
areas for doing work/printing on a school computer, which tend to get
crowded during certain hours of the day. However, if you have your own
computer, you can connect from home to the school system--this is very
convenient.
The library is huge, but not all that nice-looking. Not many people
study there, but prefer the study lounge areas.
Other campus facilities are fantastic for NY. There's a fabulous gym,
and Butler library is gorgeous. If you have housing issues, DO NOT wait
until the last minute! If you do, you may end up in Harmony Hall, which
has the smallest rooms on campus--it's a miserable experience. Instead,
find out about your housing options as soon as possible.
Some people worry about coming to the Harlem, oops, I mean Morningside
Hights, area. I think many are pleasantly surprised to see how nice the
campus and its surroundings are. However, it does change quite a bit as
you go farther north. Use the same precautions as you would anywhere
else in NY, particularly after dark (e.g., don't go jogging in the park
alone).
