The College of Law at Chicago Kent is in a very safe location, near
Union Station in downtown Chicago. There are security guards at an
information desk in the entryway and who do rounds in the classroom
building. Additionally, if a student wants an escort to a location in
the area and feels unsafe, a guard will escort them. Chicago Kent does
provide some law school housing and has a bus to take students from the
housing area to the law school, but I do not know very much about where
it is or how nice it is etc. Many students choose to rent apartments in
a building several blocks from the law school, which has all the
amentities anyone could want right in the building.
The facilities at Chicago Kent are very modern and well kept up. Almost
every classroom has computer ports at every chair. The library has
adequate computers for every student who chooses to use one at a given
time and has several floors of reference material. It is certainly as
adequate as the Cook County Law Library, and many attorneys in the area
use Chicago Kent's library for research purposes.
The cafeteria (or Spaketeria as it is called in honor of the donors) at
Chicago Kent is small, but there is always a salad bar, two hot entree
choices, a sandwich bar and a grill along with two different kinds of
soup and chili each day. Breakfast is also available and students have
both hot and cold choices. The prices are reasonable, and the food is
very good.
