Quality of Life Survey |
| Full time law program |
Cleveland is a great place to be a law student. The weather is crappy
most of the time, and there is no incentive to leave the library or
your books.
There is very affordable housing near school. The students tend to
live around a few areas that are all within walking distance (Cedar and
Fairmount; Coventry; Little Italy). Rent is cheap, apartments are
large and have wooden floors. There is some on campus housing, but a
better deal is to be found off campus (which is really close anyway).
The law school is in a terrific location: next to the concert hall
(it's beautiful), across from the art museum, and in the midst of
several other museaums. It's in the cultural area known as university
circle. The university is primarily grad students (DDS, MDS, JD), so
you can meet other non-law people your age.
The law school itself is pretty good. New lighting and furniture is
recent. The old chairs were awful, but the new ones seem to be much
better. THe facilities are improving each break. The computer labs
and library are adequate. The library staff is very good. The food
service in the building is limited, but the owner of Schticks is very
nice and willing to prepare other versions of his food if you ask
nicely. Little Italy is a short walk from the law school and it offers
cheap food. There is not a ton of dining options near school, as most
of the bars/restaurants are near the areas where students live. The
school offers microwaves and refridgerators for student use.
There is little crime, and the school is good about notifying you about
it. Parking is moderately expensive.
