The Admissions Office has staff read them, and often other professors would read and comment on them as well. It is very important to identify why you want to pursue a legal career and how you think BUSL will get you there. BU has gotten really competitive in the numbers since I was there (partly due to the economy, I'm sure). There is a real interest in attracting people from different fields (especially folks with non- legal careers). There is some effort to attract students of color, but then again, we're talking about Boston here.
