Employment Prospects Survey |
| Full-tim elaw program |
One thing I wish I had known is that the first semester for first years at BC
ends in February, a good two months after the other law schools. Which means
that when you are looking for a job for your first year summer, you have no
grades to give to employers, and that WILL limit some of your choices.
During recruiting of my second year, I received offers from firms in each city I
interviewed with (New York, San Francisco, Seattle, and Boston). BC is
strongest
in Boston, but you can get jobs in other markets. I note, however, that I was
in
the top 10% of my class and on Law Review, which factors in.
Boston law firms are very supportive of the law school, and think very highly of
BC Law grads, with alumni at all the major firms.
Career Services tends to do a poorer job helping students who are not top 10%
get work. In fact, some students I know have complained about being discouraged
by Career Services from looking for particular work because
of their grades. Some may call this a reality check. In addition, the students
who do recieve help
from them (this in the top 10%), really do not need help from them to get a job.
