| Joint JD/MBA program |
If you do very well, all they do is route you to big
law firms. Having said that, if that's what you want, I think almost every top
firm (except maybe Cravath and Wachtell) recruits on campus, and there are BC
alumni essentially everywhere. Also pretty good about school-year internships,
clinics, they'll get a professor to hire you for the summer if you totally
strike
out, etc. But, if God forbid, you don't want to go to a big firm, they won't
help
you. I wanted to work for a very prestigious government agency, and career
services told me not to apply, since I wasn't qualified. Thank God I didn't
listen to them and applied anyway, because here I am!!! Unfortunately, I think
this is true of many law schools, and at least BC has a good reputation and lots
of big firm listings, etc. B-school is the exact opposite. They will do ANYTHING
to help you, are very encouraging... but don't have the recruiting clout the law
school does. On the other hand, people get very good jobs out of this program,
and the school is very good about leveraging ALL BC alumni (not just the
B-school) which is great, given the size and reputation of BC generally. But,
for
instance, bulge bracket investment banks don't recruit on campus, so people that
get those jobs out of BC have to do a lot of legwork and networking ... however,
career resources will absolutely help you with that (they WANT you to do well to
bring up their rankings), and it is getting better as the school has moved into
the top 40.
