| Full-time Ph.D. program (Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry) |
The admissions process required general GREs with an optional subject
GRE test, personal statement, letters of recommendation and transcript.
I was accepted based on my application and then invited to visit and
evaluate the program (paid by Yale). Interviews performed at that time
were entire informational and it was a great opportunity to meet the
professors, students and other potential candidates for the following
year. Because the department I applied to is a fairly new field, none of
the subject GRE tests were particularly applicable. I had taken the
Chemistry GRE because other programs I was applying for required it,
though by the early fall of the application year, I had only completed 1
of the 3 courses that the test is based on. Needless to say, my
performance wasn't stellar and the fact that I was accepted on the basis
of my strong grades, research experiences, teaching experiences and
recommendations suggest that the subject GRE wasn't an important
criterium in my application.
