The area is totally safe particulary if you live on campus. The
University provides four apartment complexes for graduate students. The
environment is very beautiful and the Fall and Spring are the most
enjoyable seasons. If you live on campus you don't need a car to go to
school and getting around. There is a free bus that runs in campus
during the academic year. There are dining for students who live in a
dorm but those are expensive. I would suggest cook in your own or go to
fast food restaurants when you don't have time to cook.
The city (Kalamazoo) is known for a lot of small beautiful lakes and
forest.
The University has the ice arena which is open all year long and
recreation center which has an indoor pool. These are free to enrolled
students. They also offer a lot of free sport classes for students.
The library is one of the best I have seen. It is an excellent
environment to study.
The statium is on campus and lots of famous football games are played
there along the year.
