Applicants for graduate study toward a master's degree at Westbrook
University must hold a U.S. bachelor's degree or a comparable non-U.S.
degree before enrolling in any department or program. Graduate study is
open both to students wishing to matriculate in a degree program at
Westbrook and to those entering a non-degree and/or a diploma program.
Successful applicants should be able to demonstrate qualities of
academic and personal excellence through his or her application
materials. These materials should provide evidence that the applicant
will be able to pursue successfully a program of study leading to a
graduate degree in the chosen field. The applicant's scholastic record
must demonstrate distinction, and the undergraduate program should
reflect breadth as well as appropriate preparation for advanced study in
the selected field.
The admissions process itself involves consulting with the Admissions
Office; completing a detailed application form; paying a nonrefundable
application fee of $100; securing official transcripts (bearing the
registrar's signature and/or the institution's seal) from each
postsecondary institution attended, documenting all courses taken,
whether or not within a degree program, grades received and degrees
earned; providing three letters of recommendation; submitting verified
(and notarized) life/work/military experiences if you wish them to be
considered for incoming credit (the cost of this type of consideration
is an additional $75); producing an optional one-page statement of
purpose, explaining your current goals, career plans and reasons for
selecting a major field of graduate study; and official GRE scores if
required by your program and, for international applicants whose native
language is not English, official TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign
Language) scores.
