Unfortunately, since I am an online student, I have no first-hand
knowledge of the social life on campus. However, I did live in San
Antonio for six years, and I can say that the city has a lot to offer
the college-aged crowd, as well as to older students with families. San
Antonio is one of the most interesting cities in the country, with many
attractions. A lot of the attractions are not overly "touristy" either.
The city also bosts a very large and robust public library system for
help with research papers and the like. The River Walk has traditionally
been a place were college students go for entertainment and shopping.
The city also has cultural attractions, such as a major art museum, a
natural history museum, and the Institute of Texan Cultures. The
downtown area contains Hemisfair Plaza, the site of many events and
cultural attractions. Finally, the city is the home of several
universities, including a University of Texas campus (UT-San Antonio).
Therefore, UIW on-compus students will not be the only college-aged
crowd in the area.
