I mentioned earlier that UW has all sorts of options for social
activities. Regardless of your interests, if you look around a little,
you can find similar people. There is no shortage of bars or
restaurants downtown, and they range from casual and fun to more formal
and expensive. Eclectic shopping, dining and drinking can be easily
found downtown, very close to campus. In addition, Madison has chain
stores and restaurants located on the east and west sides of town for
more traditional shopping and dining.
Information on student services, as well as student organizations, can
be found online at http://www.wisc.edu/wiscinfo/student/#6. The list
of clubs is extensive. Also check out the campus calendar for current
events around campus. During the summer, there are many events and
Memorial Union Terrace and it's a popular gather spot for students to
drink and listen to music. But there's always something going on, and
people in Madison are great about coming out for events. I've found
that whether you're going to Farmers Market on the Capital Square on
Saturday morning, or going to the Terrace to listen to music, the
atmosphere is always fun.
