USC has a bad reputation for its proximity to South Central Los Angeles.
This is simply unfounded. The campus is very well kept and extremely
safe. There is a decent grocery store within walking distance of campus.
I lived in university owned housing just off campus, which I found to be
very nice. There is also a fair amount of multi-family housing
surrounding the campus. Dining can be done at one of the campus's three
dining halls, where several chain restaurants have satelites, or at the
University Village shopping center's food court accross the street. The
USC campus is park with lush greenery and leafy shade trees around every
corner. It is a great place to study.
