Philadelphia is a great place for grad school--a big East Coast city
with reasonable prices. Penn has done wonders to improve its urban
environment. Many grad students live in downtown Philly near Rittenhouse
Square. The university recognizes this and sponsers a shuttle bus that
circles from campus the Rittenhouse Square area most of the night.
Dining options on campus are numerous, but I highly recommend the food
trucks. Non-Philly newcomers tend to be stunned by the high quality,
delicious food! You must try the area by the gym--the crepes and the
Chinese over there are to die for... as is the Vegitarian truck at 34th
& Walnut.
