| Full-time one-year master's programs |
Admissions processes vary by college, but many colleges have rolling
admissions (no specific application deadlines). A few colleges require
the GRE, but not all, as the GRE and other such standardized tests are
not typical in the UK. One benefit to studying in the UK, especially for
master's courses is that you do not have to have a BA or BS/BSc in the
same field to be admitted. Many UK MA/MSc courses are "conversion
courses," which are perfect for someone interested in a new field, and
are intended for those students. Postgraduate courses leading to the
MA/MSc are typically one calendar year long, which is much easier to fit
into your studies at your American university or complete between
degrees in the US. Interviews are typically not required for
international students, but will be scheduled if you are available.
Personally, I think they help applicants, especially in the UK where
students' relationships with their tutors are somewhat more personal
than we are accustomed to in the US.
