The program provided significant assistance in securing residency assignments
for students, but I did much of my own footwork due to my own unique
circumstances as an older student. GW has an excellent program reputation and
maintains strong relationships with national association organizations. I think
this area is a strong suit for the program. Career prospects of course depend on
the economy and other varibles which are out of the control of the school. That
said, I think GW provided an excellent springboard for that first job placement
out of school. It matters less after that. Being in Washington DC affords
students a unique perspective and access to opportunities not available anywhere
else in the country. The number of national associations, political think tanks
and the Hill itself, provide a rich environment for internships and residencies.
