Springfield College and Springfield itself, are very interesting. The
college was almost like a commuter school with a lot of students
returing home on the weekends, or even living off campus. The city
itself turned into a ghost town from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. But for those
students that were around, it was a lot of fun.
The campus offers students many opportunities to get involved in
student activites/clubs/sports teams/etc. For graduate students, many
took part in intramural sports, and even coaching on the sports teams.
There also was a Graduate Student Night held once a month at a local
bar where students could dance and socialize.
The city was mainly visited by students for the restaurants, the bars,
and the civic center where concerts and special events were held.
Downtown Springfield was a safe place where one could out at all hours
of the night. There were many bars and restaurants to choose from, a
favorite being a cajun-style restaurant on the northern side of the
railroad tracks.
