Located in an urban area, RPI's lush campus and spectacular
architecture seem aptly suited to its urban environment. Great
restaurants in Troy, with a few good bars, although if you want to do
anything, you will have to go to Albany or Saratoga. For shopping, you
may have to travel outside of Troy, although the city is trying to
improve its downtown atmosphere and pull students into its unique shops.
Neighborhood is like any urban environment---decrepit in some areas,
with some nicer, older homes in other places. Although I felt safe at
night, as a woman, I would not recommend walking alone on the campus
outside the safety of the school buildings.
