If you already have a job in IT, you'll be okay. If you're trying to break into
IT, like I was, you'd better look elsewhere. The program does not teach you
enough hard skills that you will need to get that first job. I ended up getting
a tech support job before I graduated, but only because I did additional study
outside the MSIS program to acquire some IT skills. I was able to move from that
job into my current position as a database administrator.
The career placement office is no help to graduate students. They are oriented
towards undergraduates. They make you sit through an orientation before they
will service you. The presenters in this orientation act as though you know
nothing about how to get a job, in spite of the fact that most of us already had
jobs. Companies do recruit on campus, but few of them are offering IT jobs.
What little prestige Pace has comes from its Accounting program, not the IS
programs.
