I lived off campus in Chicago, so I don't know much about the housing.
The grad school dorm smells, I remember that much from meetings. . .and
also if you're older and don't want to be stuck with a complete
stranger, I'd recommend an apartment. We didn't encounter any safety
issues while there, but I've read about 10 assults occuring this year on
campus. The dining facilities are great. . .anything you want. The
campus is directly on Lake Michigan. . .great paths on the lake front if
that interests you. Also NW has a great athletic complex. Parking is
always an issue in Evanston. . . don't disobey the signs, you'll be
towed. My advice is to shell out the money for a parking pass. . .even
then the lots are sometimes full, but it's better than having to move
your car during break at class.
