Admission & Application Survey |
| Executive MPA program |
The admissions process went fairly smoothly, although I seem to remember
a little bit of occasional rudeness when asking questions of admissions
personnel. Several years later, however, upon my successful completion,
they were very eager to have me come back as an "alumni recruiter."
I think the application process was fairly standard. However, I was a
little concerned about selectivity. I applied to and enrolled in
the "Saturday program," a new option which was created, in part, to
attract more students to the Wagner School. Like many schools of public
service, Wagner is woefully underfunded. The advertising stated that
stated "only high-calibre students who were making a significant
contribution in the public service" would be accepted. However, there
were a number of people in the program that one could not consider to be
very bright, and indeed, others who had not even figured out what they
wanted to do with their lives. It seems that increasing tuition
revenues may have won out, to some degree, over selectivity.
