Admission & Application Survey |
| Full-time MA Program |
Although I graduated technically from Newschool University I was a
student in Parsons School of Design MA program in the History of the
Decorative Arts. The admissions process was pretty cut and dry with the
typical application form and fee. From what I recall no essay or GRE
scores required. An interview was, however, and I think this serves a
better purpose in finding out what kind of student you are so it is wise
to take it very seriously. I interviewed with the chair of the program
and she was very nice and accomodating answering any questions I had
about the program and my future once I graduated. She was also feeling
me out as to what my educational background was and what I hoped to gain
from my experience. I appreciated this as I didn't want to waste my time
and they do not want to waste theirs. It was a very upfront and honest
interview, very comfortable. I never felt like I was being scrutinized.
This is one reason I chose this program over any other. If this is the
program that a future student is interested in I would have to say that
the interview has to be the main thing that the school bases their
decision on, so perhaps my advice would be take it seriously but do not
stress out over it. If you are confident in yourself and your ability
then you should have no problem. The interview is the best was to find
out if you are making the right decision for your future.
