There are not a lot of social outlets within Oxford. There are some
great local bars (such as Mac & Joe's) and eatery (Kona) along with cute
shops. However, for graduate students it was often tough to find places
where we could socialize and not be surrounded by undergraduates.
Therefore, we would often drive the hour to Cincinnati for ball games,
restaurants, shopping, and more. The Tri-County and Kenwood Malls are a
short drive and have all the traditional stores (Pottery Barn, Banana
Republic, Ann Taylor). Each of these malls is surrounded by restaurants
ranging from PF Chang's to Dick Clark's American Grille. Movie theaters
abound. Downtown Cincinnati offers Mt. Adams with cute Thai restaurants
and a bookshop. There's also the Cincinnati Zoo. And, both Cincinnati
and Dayton have airports so it's easy to get far out of town if needs be.
