Social Life Survey |
| MA & Ph.D. |
Social life is fulfilling through both university-sponsored events such
as movie nights and club/Greek events. Also, cultural activities--for
example, the International Student Club
(http://www.fiu.edu/~isc/about/Constitution.pdf) are a great source of
fun since there is a high diversity of students and a broad
international population. Bars, restaurants, and the dating scene
(www.solosingles.com/singlesmiami/) is very high owing to the close
proximity to downtown Miami (Bayside mall) and the South Beach area
(Collins Ave., Washington Ave., and Lincoln Rd. are 'happening'
locations), where parties abound--Latin, Salsa, and Reggae are quite
popular. Museums [e.g., the Historical Museum of Southern Florida, the
Miami Art Museum, the Lowe Art Museum, the Bass Museum of Art, Black
Heritage Museums, and Cuban Musuem, Inc.
(www.switchboard.com/Museums/Miami/ FL/2048/yellowpages.htm)] and
historic monuments [such as the Holocaust Memorial of Miami Beach
(www.ohwy.com/fl/h/holocmem.htm)] should not be overlooked, either, as
they are significant. For restaurants and related nightlife, see
http://www.forbes.com/2002/04/04/0404cityguide_print.html, which
accesses great hang-outs.
