The graduate admissions process is somewhat lenghtly. It involves a
standard application and several essay questions. I can't emphsize
enough that the answers to these questions be well thought out and
publication quality. I enlisted the help of several friends. In
addition, if possible call a Cornell alumni and seek their help.
The appication provides about two letters of recommendation. I would
advise photocopying these and send in no less than six. If possible
have the sealed letters returned to you and then mail them all in at
once. Be very, very, very sure that you choose the responders wisely.
There will be a face to face interview with an alumni, if you live too
far from Ithaca (and who doesn't?) Arrive dressed in business attire,
and be ready to answer additional essay questions. One thing to note,
if you reach this stage, in all likelyhood, the alum interviewing you
is on your side. Do not hesitate to ask any questions, discuss and
doubts.
