Cornell has a fairly extensive undergraduate Greek system, though most
graduate students do not partake of it. There is a graduate student
social center known as the Big Red Barn, which hosts events that allow
grad students from different programs to interact. Ithaca has numerous
restaurants, bars, pubs and clubs frequented by graduates and
undergraduates alike. The Chapterhouse is a fairly popular pub among
graduate students, providing a fairly cosy atmosphere. Ithaca is not
far from New York's vineyards, and a visit during good weather is very
rewarding. The social life is mostly what the individual student makes
of it, as opportunities to have fun abound.
