One of the reason I went to CWRU was to get a degree that had more leverage
attached to it. Besides being the premiere graduate school in Ohio, its
reputation throughout the Midwest (I came from Michigan) and East makes it a
valuable employability asset.
When I was in a competition for a national level position in Los Angeles, the
terminal degree (Ph.D.) was an asset, but the pedigree (CWRU) helped put me over
candidates with degrees from other schools, state and private, including USC,
UCLA, and Berkeley. I got the job.
