Employment Prospects Survey |
| Full-time Ph. D. program |
After one semester at Brown, I began teaching undergraduate courses at another
nearby institution. As my course advanced, I asked by professors to work as a
consultant or jointly on their outside projects, i.e., a museum, and scholarly
essays for submission to peer-reviewed journals under joint authorship. After
passing the qualifying preliminary examination, my professors encouraged me to
present scholarly papers at the annual meetings of professional associations and
societies, which they, too, frequently attended, and were able to provide
feedback, or help me network with other scholars working in my field, or
prospective employers. Everywhere I went to read a paper, consult on a project,
teach, or to do field resarch in seven cities around the USA, my Brown
credentials were always met with the highest of regard and respect.
