Admission & Application Survey |
| Full-time Ph. D. program |
The application required an essay to elucidate what research area I
would pursue, three letters of recommendation, the GRE, and an
undergraduate transcript. Contacting the professor who I wanted to
serve as my mentor during the process was very benificial in both the
admissions process and throughout the coursework, oral examination, and
disserating. I was introduced to this professor via one of my
undergraduate professors who had previously taught at Brown.
Establishing communication, and giving examples of my previous academic
work to the professor for his review prior to formally applying was
very helpful in the admissions process, and beyond. When I arrived on
campus, I knew someone, and someone had personal knowledge of me beyond
my academic record.
