Bocconi 2000: one campus, one neighborhood
In the last decade, the Bocconi 2000 project has made sizable
investments in the enlargement of learning and residential
infrastructure, thus creating a full-fledged urban campus that comprises
an entire city neighborhood.
A new building, in use since September 2001, provides Bocconi freshmen
with 30 new 150-seat classrooms. The classrooms are set within a 4-floor
amphitheatre-shaped structure, with break and study areas equipped with
hundreds of workstations connected to a fiber-optic network on every
floor, and a faculty room and a student hall on the ground floor.
yoU@B: the student??s personal web planner
Each student has a tailor-made planner, yoU@B, which can be accessed via
the web, letting him/her view and download class schedules, classroom
locations, exam calendars, check the results of the tests and pointing
to contacts, notes and links.
Internet points at the University
In order to provide vast access to the web and University??s e-learning
applications, a number of internet points with broadband connections are
placed all around campus, from which the students can log onto the Net
with their standard-configured laptops.
IT classrooms
Twelve classrooms equipped with personal computers connected to the
University network are at the students?? disposal. 3 of these (equipped
with 145 PCs) are specifically intended for use by the students for
distance-learning purposes.
For those courses implying the use of IT with the teacher??s assistance,
the University features 3 classrooms (232 PCs total) equipped with
videobeams, which reproduce on a large screen what is displayed on the
teacher??s PC monitor.
Furthermore, an IT lab is available at the Language Centre for the study
and practive of foreign languages and for self-evaluation of fluency
levels and pronounciation accuracy.
The Central Library
The Bocconi Library, which contains over 650,000 volumes, is Italy??s
most important collection of economic and law titles, and it is renowned
for its remarkable sections on social sciences and foreign literature.
It offers students open-stack consultation and evening opening hours.
Furthermore, the library houses the office of the European Documentation
Centre (CDE) and hosts the publications of the Asian Development Bank.
Study and relational skills
In order to enable students to exploit the opportunities for personal
and professional growth offered by the University, Bocconi organises
free courses and seminars through the Centre for the Development of
Learning and Didactic Skills (CESDIA). Their main aim is to help
students in the development of their study and relational skills, and
provides individual guidance services to help students identify and
solve any personal difficulty that may arise during their university
careers.
Documentation centre
In association with SOP, the Documentation Centre provides information
on professions, companies, and the job market, as well as on graduate
and post-graduate courses.
