A large part of the Yale social structure is the a-cappella singing
groups, which functions almost like a Greek system. However, there are
enough fraternities for parties, while the sororities are small but
truly tight-knit. Naples Pizza is a staple for underclassmen, because
they serve cheap beer and pizza. In addition, other bar favorites
include Viva's, Rudy's, and Kavanagh's. The club in town is Toad's,
where every Saturday you have a Yale night where Yalies get in for
free. One of the coolest traditions at Yale is Mory's, where you get
to sit around old wooden tables, drink out of large silver cups, and
sing very silly songs while dressing pretty formally. In addition,
there are plenty of dances (e.g., Winter Ball, Screw Your Roommate
Dance), concerts, shows, and other performances to attend almost every
weekend. Each college also has one or two designated party suites
where they hold sanctioned parties in nice, big spaces.
