Needless to say, Yale is extremely selective, but it's more than just
the grades and the SAT score. You definitely need great grades and SAT
scores, but they really do try to accept people who are interesting in
different ways. As a result, the essays are very important. You have
to highlight what makes you special as a candidate, because they are
getting a lot of applicants with top grades and top SAT scores. I'm
not sure how important the interviews are, since I never got one and I
was accepted anyways.
