The housing here is set up by year. Freshmen and sophmores stay in two
connected dorms- Mac and Davison (AKA MacDav) small rooms furnished
with a computer desk, a tall dresser with 6 drawers and a bed. Some
students get a single if they are chosen for it. There are 3 more dorms
that house sophmores and juniors- Rosenkrans, Disert and Riddle Hall.
They are small rooms maybe 13x10 that has a divider in the middle to
separate the roommates from each other. The last two remaining dorms
are South and Prentis. South hall is a beautiful old house that rooms
the seniors. Most of them have their own bathrooms unlike the rest of
the campus. Prentis is a special dorm. It houses the childcare center
below it and the Women with Children residents reside right above that
in two room suites with a bathroom.
Each floor of the dorms have their own computer room, with 2 or 3
computers and a printer and kitchens that are actually useful with 2
stoves, refrigerators and the laundry room attached. Laundry is cheap
but not free. $1.00 to wash $.50 to dry.
The campus is a very safe campus as their really isnt any crime at
all-Most feel comfortable walking the campus late at night- there is a
security team that patrols the campus all night long. The campus is very
easy to get around as almost everything is within a five minute walking
distance and you never leave the campus. The only two places that are
not within a five minute walking distance I would say would be the
stables and the sustainable farm. they would be more like 10 minutes.
That is where most of our vegatables come from is our farm.
Our dining hall I hate to say it still leaves a lot to be
desired. Though the variety of the food is better the food still
stinks. After all it is hard to cook for 300 meal planners and make it
taste good.
The neighborhood that Wilson is located in is one of the oldest in
the town and was the only on not burned by General Lee during the
war.The surrounding area is beautiful- the streets are lined with trees
and large civil war era homes. The area is safe and comfortable
(comfortable enough to allow the Women with Children residents to go
trick or treating and to walk to and from elementary school everyday)
The campus has a few interesting facilities for a small campus.
Wilson houses a gymnastics school and a music school on campus which
allows us the full use of the faciliies. We also have horseback riding,
swimming, a coffehouse (it actually gets used quite a bit), a
weightroom and a dance studio. We also have different fields to play
sports in.
