| Davis Scholar Continuing Ed Undergrad Program |
There is no end of things to do at Wellesley. There are events for
every kind of interest there exists from religious to gay and lesbian.
There are, naturally, a number of major national sororities and other
types of Greek clubs on the campus as well as a number of 'society
houses'. Every interest group has a program and many of them have
specific locations on the campus. There are special dorms and
restaurants run by students. The campus has a radio station and several
newspapers and other student run publications. Lecturers and celebrity
speakers are constantly on campus (no, NOT just Hillary!).
On the weekends, most students go into the city, either Cambridge or
Boston and attend events at Harvard and MIT as well as BU,
Northeastern, Wentworth, Lesley and other big schools. There are always
events going on in Boston and Cambridge because they are huge 'college
towns'. Movies, theater, bars, parties, clubs, frat houses, traditional
and eclectic, it's all available. This would have to be the student
favorite at Wellesley, going into Boston or Cambridge (where I lived
while there). There are also parks and lots of recreational
opportunities in Cambridge and Boston, as well as shopping at upscale
malls like Copley Place in Back Bay or the Cambridgeside Galleria in
Cambridge. Even the town of Wellesley has nice boutiques, upscale
eateries and coffee shops and bed and breakfasts. There are several
hotels in the area for visitors but the College has a small Club where
visitors with connections to Wellesley can book rooms...and they're
nice rooms! Again, the service is provided by Marriott. Finally,
students can also go in the opposite direction from Boston to the
suburbs of Natick and Framingham where there are lots of other malls,
stores, restaurants or clubs. There is just no excuse for social
boredome at Wellesley!
