Internships were still highly dependent on the individual's effort. The C&F
internship help was mediocre. Some A&S programs were very good though. The ROTC
& NROTC programs are very good, with the NROTC program commissioning the most
Navy & Marine Corps officers after Annapolis each year. Our career fairs were
very well attended, and many of the companies conducted on campus recruiting.
Most people I knew had good job offers before graduation. This was the late
'90s, however. Villanova has a good reputation in the region and a strong
regional alumni base. You may have more difficulty regarding prestige if you
were to look for a job in Texas, Illinois, or Washington state. Surprisingly
there is a strong alumni base in California. My company, which I have worked for
since graduation, tiers schools for the recruiting process. Villanova is a Tier
One, with other schools such as UPenn & Lehigh. When we recruit (which we are
finally doing again), Villanova is one of about 3 real target schools for our
Philadelphia office. Besides my company, I had no problem getting interviews
through Villanova's career placement office. I often had 2-4 interviews per
week. Many of my friends were in the same boat.
