The Career Services Department on campus works year round to provide students
with information on jobs, interviews, alumni networking, fairs, etc. The
Department is located in Corr Hall, a building with beautiful architecture and
plenty of interviewing rooms. There are so many successful alumni it makes job
seeking and networking easier than it is for students at most other Universities.
Each year the Department comes up with themes for upcoming job search,
networking, and interview processes. Last year the theme was "The Power of
Villanova." During my time at Villanova I participated in three "taped interview"
seminars where a Career Services Staff member filmed me during a mock interview.
These were very helpful as I went through the job hunting and interview process.
As a matter of fact, one of my interviewers commented on how relaxed and prepared
I was thanks to the preparation I received from the Career Services Department.
While a student I also regularly attended the Career Fairs. These are awesome!
The entire Pavilion (Basketball Stadium) was packed with potential employers
every time. Prestigious firms like Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, PWC, Johnson &
Johnson are always in attendance.
For those who wish to attend law school the pre-law advisor is a terrific person
and extremely knowledgeable about the law school application process. There is
also a pre-med program and advisor for those who are interested in taking that
path. Keep in mind Villanova also offers a BS/MD joint degree program with a
Philadelphia medical school! For those who would like to pursue graduate school
in other fields advisors and mentors abound and there's always someone to help
you on your way. For example, I am going to Stanford for graduate school and
after being out of Villanova for over a year I was able to speak with 6
professors about choosing a program, school, etc. The fact that they took the
time to speak with me even though I was no longer there is testament to the sort
of community that Villanova is. It's also worth noting that during my graduate
school application process it was simple to order transcripts and connect with
professors. There is little if any red tape at Villanova.
