Campus was marvelous...beautiful trees, expansive lawns, terrific
weather. It's certainly one of Vandy's greatest strengths. Nearly all
students live on campus, which created a pretty active social and
extracurricular scene. Housing comes in a wide variety of flavors, from
single rooms along a hallway to 6 person suites. The specialty dorms
were true gems and terrific communities: McGill with Philosophy,
McTyeire with languages, and Mayfields with community service projects.
Facilities on campus were generally pretty good. The Rec Center was
particularly nice, as is the new engineering hall. Computers were in
pretty ready supply, with needed software and capabilities for
engineering work and casual communications.
Campus dining was better than average, with a better selection for
lunch than dinner, but a variety of options nevertheless. And the
dozens of restaurants within walking distance of campus made for a
nice change of pace.
While crime was not a non-issue, I never felt unsafe on campus, even
late at night.
