Madison is a safe town. While there are incidents, most people don't
bat an eye and the rank as one of the best places to live is well
deserved. The on campus housing is fine for freshman year, not great
but not bad; and after that first year there is tons of housing to
choose from around campus. Food on campus is sub-par, but palatable,
sub on State Street (slightly off campus) is great! The campus itself
ranges from dingy in the winter to beautiful in the fall and summer.
The quality of facilities also ranges greatly: some really cool new
buildings and some really old space-race era relics (mechanical
engineering). I definitely suggest visiting the campus once in
February and then again in June to get a taste of what Madison is like.
