While I've had little experience with the careers office on campus, I can tell
you the general feel of UW: Your on your own. To highly motivated individuals,
this isn't a problem. The UW name does carry it's weight nationally and
sometimes internationally, but there are few people in the university that are
going to hold your hand and help you find internships and your future career.
However, it definitely helps if you are in an honors program or if your
department is small. Overall, the prestige of the University of Wisconsin is
great in the midwest. The BBA program is gaining steam (ranked number 11) and in
Real Estate, UW grads have a lot going for them. However, if you plan on working
on a coast when you graduate, it is an up hill battle, definitely do-able, just
not easy.
