The admissions process generally requires a well-written application.
It helps to have high grades and test scores. There is a certain GPA
you're supposed to meet that will definitely guarantee admission. This
information is located on the school admissions website, and is
different for out of state applicants. Naturally, the admission level
will be much higher for out of state applicants. I think its important
to meet that gpa level, and grades aren't weighted like in the UCs.
There is no interview required, but there is an essay requirement.
Please be aware that once you get into the university, some majors will
require additional admission requirements and a separate application.
