The fraternities and sororities at UVa are strong and have long
histories. Several fraternities were started at UVa. Sorority rush has
returned to Spring semester, giving students an opportunity to make
friends who are not in their fraternal organization. Students can find
prestigious groups to join in many other arenas...for example the
UGuides who give tours of campus, the many a capella groups, religious
and service organizations, student government and many other areas.
Favorite parties include Mid-Winters when students visit from across the
region for giant parties, the Resto Ball for black tie affairs to
support the University's architecture and typical Thursday night
fraternity mixers. Bars have great specials to lure students like $2
pitchers and burger night at fave St. Marten's on 14th Street.
