| full-time undergrad program |
I think UVa should do more to encourage externships, although there are
considerable resources for those who look for them as opposed to at some
Universities where the program is set up to automatically help (or force) a
student into various career experiences. Our career services dept is very
helpful and only becomes heavily back logged during certain busy times of the
year. They were exceptionally helpful with my resume, but i found the pre-law
advice to be lacking in quality largely due to the over whelming number of
pre-law students looking for help. I worked during college at a job through
human resources, the same way a member of the outside community would apply,
instead of work study. I found this to be a better way to make money and have
control over my work load. It's important to receive acknowledgement from your
employer that you ARE a student and will require time off and work week
scheduling consideration!!
