I began my admissions process early for UT. At the time the admissions
process consisted of an application, letters of reference, three
essays, my SAT scores and my high school transcript. I applied after my
grades were posted for the December semester of high school. I heard
from the university at the end of March. Because the university had to
change admissions standards and procedures due to Hopwood, I was not
selected. However, I began summer school that summer at another UT
System college. To transfer to the University of Texas you needed to
have 24 hours of college credit. At the end of that summer, with only
nine hours completed, but enrolled for 16 that fall, I applied to UT. I
found out at the beginning of November that I was accepted on a
conditional basis, pending a 3.0 in the classes for which I was
currently enrolled.
