The Greek system at USC is popular with some students, however, many
more choose not to be in the system. And no worries, you will not have
any problems making lifelong friends outside of the system.
The social life around the immediate area is somewhat limited, but there
are plenty of options within 10-15 min driving distance. No matter what
your style and social inclinations, there are plenty to do... The East
side (Los Feliz, Hollywood, Silverlake, Echo Park, etc.) is the more
unpretentious part of Los Angeles, with plenty of great clubs, dive
bars, good restaurants, coffee shops... for the more stereotypical LA,
there's the West side... West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Santa Monica,
etc. The West crowd is mainly 99% wanting to be in the Industry
(Entertainment), and 1% actually in it... but despite everything it too
has it's charm. So no matter what you want, you'll find a place to fit
in.
