People say USC is in the hood and you will get shot here. Certainly not
so. The campus is very safe. I would not venture too far east but who
really would?? You are basically in downtown LA (2 miles south), next to
the Staples center, and close to the mountains (snowboarding), beach,
and K-town, J-town, Chinatown, and all the other X-towns in LA.
Large diversity at the school as it is very international and California
is just a diverse place. UCLA is basically 50% asian whereas USC is
around 16% when I attended so USC is still a caucasian dominated school.
(Can you tell that I'm asian???).
Parties abound of course and you should not have a hard time finding a
good time at USC. Finding peace and quiet is usually the hardest problem
(especially at the main Leavey Library which is almost a social
gathering rather than a place of study).
I repeat again as in previous comments that it is what you make of it.
It is likely the same way at every school. The resources are definitely
all here (not world-class, but solid - excerpted from some Business
School ranking book).
If you have what it takes, you can have the best of all worlds here at
USC.
