I had NO problems with crime ven during the famous LA riots. The campus is much safer than most people give it credit for. Much of the real LA crime is much further south. The campus is also next to the museum of science, LA sports arenas, rose gardens and a straight shot to downtown with NO traffic (3 mins away). As far as weekend life, the Greek system is very active and they have a greek row a couple blocks north of campus. It seems every weekend there is something fun to do and everyone takes part. Universal Studios City is a popular place to hang out, the Beach and Santa Monica, Hunnington Beach, Malibu the list goes on. San Franciso is a popular destination during the weekender football games.
