Social Life Survey
full-time undergraduate program There were no real hang-outs near campus; most "Cool" folks lived at the beach, where the two main bar/hangouts for USD students were. The Penant and the Beachcomber were the greek student hangout, which made it hard for non-frat boys to get in. There were always fights there ea weekend, some when SDSU and UCSD students tried to horn in on our ladies, or vice versus, but there were always the local beach scum at these bars too. Crime at the beach and walking out of the bars down there was high, with stabbings and gang-related issues, cruising, etc. The police presence eventually became quite heavy in the area, and it became less fun for weeknights. All in all though, it was a beautiful location and recreation was easy to find and access. Mexico/Tijuana is 20 min away by car or trolley too, which is where we spent every Wednesday night freshman year.
