The Career assistance office was useless, so too was the Head of the English
Dept re: finding work. The Phil. profs were equally in another world about the
real world. They all advocated going to grad school, you know, 3-4 more years of
student loan debt. No one was very good about letters of reference either, I
nearly did not get into law school b/c some of the profs nearly forgot to send in
their letters. The career services office had a lot of postings for business
students, and all my accounting friends were hired right out of school. Those
fellow A&S students who did not go into grad school pretty much found themselves
scrammbling for work in 1994. We were not well prep'd for finding work nor were
there many posted opp's for non-business-types.
