The university offers a good liberal arts education, but it does not offer
comfortable career prospects. Employers that recruit from Richmond are generally
from the Richmond area or Washington D.C., but New York companies and
multinational companies do not seek out Richmond graduates. Many Richmond grads
who tried to obtain jobs on Wall Street or other global businesses had a
difficult time finding them as a Richmond graduate. Even more Richmond students
who tried to obtain internships had a difficult time doing so unless they had
connections outside of the school's career placement office. I don't know of
many employers who view Richmond highly, so it is up to the student to present
themselves as competitive as the Ivy League graduates.
